Hat man das Update komplett installiert, sollte man bei der Kamera so einige Verbesserungen erkennen. Videoaufnahmen starten schneller und die Bildstabilisierung wurde überarbeitet, an der allgemeinen Schärfe, sowohl bei Fotos, als auch bei Filmen wurde geschraubt und der erkennbare, bisherige Rotstich ist entfernt worden. Auch hat Nokia die Geschwindigkeit der Kamera hochgeschraubt und die Browseransicht überarbeitet. Besonders angenehm ist die Tatsache, dass Verbindungen über WLAN mit der neuen Firmware stabiler laufen und auch der bisher eher unangebracht schlechte Klang des Handys wurde überarbeitet. Eine komplette Liste aller Erneuerungen liefert die Seite Symbian-Freak, wer noch über einen Kauf des Sliders nachdenkt, sollte ein wenig abwarten. In den neueren Geräten wird die aktuelle Software dann sowieso enthalten sein.

Erfahrungen zur neuen Firmware(leider auf englisch):

GPS is still very poor, I used it in london and it works ok in built up areas as it doesn't have to do much work but when you live in the country and have to travel on motorways, it just can't cope.

Here's the reason, Nokia GPS has no way of determining the shortest route or longest, even though it has a setting, you cannot adjust the speeds of each road which means it always wants to take you on A roads and town centres, even when you are only 5 miles from your destination, it will tell you to come off the motorway turn around and get back on the motorway to come off at the previous junction and take the A/B road.

So my journey to work involves a 25m drive using all motorways, it's approx 23 miles to work using local roads, but the local roads take you through Bristol city centre, which is a nightmare at 8am in the morning.

TOMTOM works flawlessly, but Nokia is just terrible, if you live in the centre of London it works pretty good, it has got me out of London a few times taking me the quickest route, it just cant cope with medium lenth motorway journeys.

Locktime on the Satnav is not improved, infact mines seems like it takes longer now, it never got a lock all the way to the motorway 10min+ but picked up the signal when I was stopped in stationary traffic, so it struggles to find a satellite when moving, once it has a lock it works ok then.

You still cannot change shortest route etc when your in navigation mode.

Setting up a route takes forever if it involves distance, try it..... if you travel over 100 miles it can take 5 mins or more to plan the route. add to that the fact it wants you to take you on A roads so it's forever CALCULATING NEW ROUTE, to calculate a new route, the Nokia takes over 3 mins if your travelling some distance, so in real time that means you have travelled 4 miles before the device even has your new route up.

Just my observations, the GPS has not changed at all from last patch, which is a shame

I would add though, the Camera seems better, but the camera for me was always brilliant, I still love the N95 I would just like to see the GPS sorted, or tomtom bring out their solution :P
